argh whats the freakin issue? any country which already has their own football code (Australia aka Aussie Rules, Ireland aka Gaelic Football, USA aka Gridiron/American Football etc.) just call it soccer to avoid confusion. Everyone in Europe call it football because thats their major code. Theres no right or wrong it just depends on where your from.
