English Premier League was founded in 1992 and will complete its 17th seasons as, of the end of the 2008–09 seasons. Seasons run from August to May. All teams play 38 games each. The league held its first season in 1992–93. Initially there were 22 teams in the league, however it was the intention since the inception to cut that back to 20 and as of now that is how many there are.
