As the spring approaches we get closer to the final knock out round of the UEFA Champions League. The first two teams of each group will move into the quarter finals scheduled from April 1st to the 9th. From the first last round which recently finished on March 5th the following are the two teams with the higher points : from Group A Porto(11) and Liverpool (10), Group B Chelsea (12) and Schalke (8), Group C Real Madrid and Olympiacos both with 11 points, Group D Milan (13) and Celtic (9), Group E Barcelona (14) and Lyon (10), Group F Man. United (16) and Roma (11), Group G Internazionale (15) and Fenerbahçe (11), and Group H Sevilla (15) and Arsenal (13).

The semi finals will take place from April 22nd to the 30th and the final will be staged in Moscow on May 21st, 2008. Defending champion AC Milan accumulated a total of 13 points but suffered a 2-0 defeat by the Arsenal club in one of the English group sharpest performances ever witness. Also, Manchester’s United victory over the French group Lyon led to more encouraging comments towards the “Red Devil” – Cristiano Ronaldo who scored the winning goal at the 30th minute.

The Catalan Club – the Barça had a strong opponent to overcome the Celtic in a last clash at the Nou Camp. Both groups had a goal and worked hard to stay alive in the competition. The display of high-quality talent shown by the players was inspiring; Barça’s Messi, Eto’o, and Ronaldihno were power houses which gave excellent results besides the entry to a new stage in the competition.

Let’s not forget the crucial game between all-time favourite nine-time champion Real Madrid and the AS Roma; basically a shocker match with a final score of 2-1 in favour of the Italians. Real had its issues before the game as coach Bern Schuster reported he could not count on Dutman Arjen Robben due to a recent injury and the big question mark of the dynamic Dutch duo Sneijder and Nistelrooy; this last one reported not well fit to play.

Lately, the Italian team has kept a good rhythm in the Italian Serie A as they continue to reduce the point gap from the rest of the teams and aside have reached the final knock out round in the Champions League for a second consecutive year.

The Italian Fabio Canavaro who currently plays for the Spaniard Merengue club stated this would had been the missing piece he has been searching for. He’s won several Cups but not the main prize. FIFA’s one time European and World Player of the Year awards winner admitted his heart is home but his thoughts are with his current club and he will do whatever it takes to get to Moscow in May.

The UEFA has imposed a disciplinary action against Nelson Dida from the Milan, after the controversial incident occurred last week at the Champions League match against the Celtic.

The entire story started when a fan from the Scottish team ran into the field to touch the goalkeeper Dida at the conclusion of the game last Wednesday. Apparently, the fan only brushed Dida’s neck but he had an overreaction to the instigation which caused his substitution.

The improper behavior will cost Dida two games, as the UEFA Disciplinary Committee found him guilty after the examination of the case. Presumedly, the 27-years-old fan was just running over to celebrate with his team, as he past next to the goalkeeper he only touched his shoulder as a sign of consolation. Robert McHendry was also punished; he has been banned from Celtic ground for life.

However, Milan’s lawyer Leandro Cantamessa assured that “the club’s medical staff decided the goalkeeper should be substituted as a precautionary measure therefore Milan did not commit any disloyal act”.

While Dida will stay out for two games of the Group D, the Scottish team will have to pay 25,000 Euros for the charges: their fan’s inappropriate conduct or pitch invasion and the deficiency of the security squad. Not bad if compare to the penalization of a point from the match they won last Wednesday as it was anticipated.

Manchester Council has dramatically abandoned plans to use big screens to screen next week’s Manchester United Vs Chelsea Champions League final after Glasgow Rangers fans caused chaos in the city. An estimated 20,000 Glasgow Rangers fans were in the city to see their team play Zenit St Petersberg in the match at the City of Manchester Stadium, but the occasion soured when people ran riot in the city centre, attacking both police officers and civilians.

Richard Leese, leader of the city council leader, told reporters that Manchester would not be screening the vital game next Wednesday as “an appropriate response to what happened last night.” He said that “any business or resident of the city centre” would agree with the council’s decision not to show the game.

Trouble started in the city when a big screen that was supposed to be showing the game to an estimated 20,000 fans in Manchester’s Piccadilly Gardens failed just fifteen minutes before kick off. All attempts to fix the screen failed, so the council laid on free transport for 11,000 fans to watch the game on a screen in the Velodrome. However, some fans refused to go to the alternative venue and violence erupted.

Violence was also present at the Stadium and one St Petersburg fan was stabbed in his seat before kick-off. There was more violence outside the City of Manchester Stadium after Rangers lost 2-0 in the match. In total, there were 52 assaults recorded in the city and fifteen police officers and a police dog were treated for their injuries. 42 football supporters – all thought to be Glasgow Rangers fans – were arrested after the violence.

Glasgow Rangers released a statement yesterday, which condemned the behaviour of their badly behaved fans. Martin Bain, the club’s chief executive, said: “The club has had discussions with Greater Manchester Police and Manchester City Council in view of incidents in the city last night. The police and council praised the behaviour of the overwhelming majority of Rangers fans.” However, he added “We are deeply disappointed that a small minority soured what was great carnival atmosphere and this is a view shared by our fans who travelled in unprecedented numbers to Manchester.”

Uefa, the governing body of European football, is now investigating the violence. However, it is not yet known whether Glasgow Rangers can be punished for the bad behaviour of its supporters.

William Gaillard of Uefa said that Greater Manchester Police and the city as a whole had done a “fantastic” job in looking after the fans. He said: “I can’t believe that any other city would have done anything better. Of course we are very disappointed with the behaviour of a small minority especially after the city had done everything it could to accommodate everyone’s needs and were rewarded by injured policemen and hundreds of tons of rubbish.”

English Premier League was founded in 1992 and will complete its 17th seasons as, of the end of the 2008–09 seasons. Seasons run from August to May. All teams play 38 games each. The league held its first season in 1992–93. Initially there were 22 teams in the league, however it was the intention since the inception to cut that back to 20 and as of now that is how many there are. The first ever Premier League goal was scored by Brian Deane of Sheffield United in a 2–1 win against Manchester United. The English Premier League is without a doubt, the most lucrative football league in the world. The Premier League clubs are among the richest in the world. The Premier League is operated as a corporation and is owned by the 20 member clubs. The Premier League is an English professional league for association football clubs. At the top of the English football league system, it is the country’s primary football competition. The English Premier League has become the world’s most watched sporting league. The English Premier League currently has some of the world’s most famous players and oldest clubs. According to the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS), the English Premier League is the top football league in the world for the second consecutive year.

Three of the final four teams in the Champions League semi-finals are from the EPL, and it has been like that the last 3 years. EPL is the strongest and most sought after club league in the world. The English top flight is a massive worldwide product that is ever increasingly difficult to quantify. 42 clubs have graced the top flight since the breakout of the Premier League of which only 11 of the 42 have managed a top 4 finish in 16 years. 4 clubs have won the title in the 16 seasons of competition. 15 of the 16 titles have been won by Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea. The present champion of this league is Manchester United. They won the ninth title in 2006-07. No team has ever won the title for this number of times. The top English clubs are now massive sports franchises that dominate the global game. Top players are lured to the Premier league by riches that no other league can rival. Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool have consistently occupied the top four positions with complete domination in four of the past five seasons with the sides taking the top places on 19 out of 20 opportunities. Each of the clubs in the league is considered to be a part owner in the league. The league continues to grow and become a force in the world of football. The top four team’s qualified in the Premiership graduated and now play in UEFA Championship League

The 2008/09 season has given us one of the best and closest starts to a season in many years. Liverpool has begun to prove them as a consistent force. Last weekend’s 2-1 win to Arsenal has well and truly brought them back into calculations, even at this early stage in the Premier League season. With Manchester United expected to win their game in hand, it brings the big 4 that much closer together.

As of 2008, it was ranked as the highest grossing league with La Liga, Spain and Serie A, Italy trailing behind. The Premier League will continue to dominate world football for years to come. Through hard work and effort the Premier League was able to rise to the top. England’s most improved club Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool. the English Premier League is considered as the planet’s most popular and most-viewed professional football league, and is seen across the globe by an estimated half a billion people. There are many websites those sell Premier League tickets.

The next time you want to make a purchase for any English Premier League merchandise, pause and think for a while. Think about where you can find the merchandise with the best quality and prices. What comes to mind? Unless you’ve been exiled to some god-forsaken island to live for the past ten years, you should have already thought about hunting for bargains on the Internet.

The Internet is a huge place, so not every website offers the right deals if you’re looking for bargains. The best places to look for bargains on the Internet are auction sites. That’s because all auction sites started by allowing sellers to sell their unwanted merchandise cheaply. The lure of auctions is that potential buyers have the chance of buying something way below the actual retail price, making auctions an interesting and exciting way to buy something at a very low price.

So the mentality of buyers is one that is looking for top notch bargains. For the same reasons, it is almost impossible to try and sell something at a really high price unless it’s something that’s very rare or exclusive, like an antique pen or a sandwich that looks like a saint.

Most merchants on auction sites are already very familiar with this mentality, so it is not uncommon for them to put up merchandise in good condition to be auctioned away, starting with low bids. And here is where the English Premier League fan can really take full advantage of the number of great deals available on these auction sites.

You see, sometimes, people sell stuff they don’t want for many different reasons. Some may auction off their football items collection simply because the collection is growing too big. Others do it for a profit. While some simply grow tired of the team they are supporting, and wants to have a switch. For whatever the reason, the important thing that really matters is that the sellers now do not want the merchandise anymore, and are more than happy to get rid of them, even if it meant selling them away at low prices.

But here’s a quick tip on how to capitalize on the deal if you’re made a bid. Never get into a bidding war with someone else. You do not know their intentions for bidding for that item. If they want the item more badly than you do, they are also more likely to try and outbid you. In this case, no one wins, except maybe the seller. Whoever wins the bid ends up paying a much higher price, and whoever loses the bid ends up with nothing. So it’s important to always have a cut off point. That means having a maximum bid in your mind. If it goes beyond your maximum bid, simply stop bidding. Remember, bids have no ceiling. It’s possible to keep bidding and bidding until the prices sky rocket and blow out of proportions. So be wise, and stay prudent.

Armed with these tips in mind, you should now be more confident of sourcing for English Premier League merchandise at auction sites. Good luck!
