i was thinking that maybe the mayan had an idiot savant who could count dates and numbers. it would explain a lot.

is dat in guate

Why is it always a priest or a religous mob always destroy information from our ancestours? Power over another may be the truest form of evil.

It’s nice to see mayaologists making so much progress in the field. Cheers from a fellow scientist!

WHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAATTTTTTT!???!

spain needs to pay for there forefathers stupidity they should be ranked with hitler and the nazis

The mis and dis info on YouTube is unbelievable@ Hyperbole everywhere – makes one think it’s intentional! Well, Y’shua, not ‘Jesus,’ or even ‘Iesus,’ is extremely well documented historical fact, and, with the Charles Berlitz Family School of Linguistics, much of the Aztec and Mayan histories now live, too. Their books are available in used bookstores all over. Read facts, not silly superstitions by unbelievers!
Really, now!

Very nice post, thank for for this knowledge.

pontius pilate was a real king who ruled judea and who was put in charge of the trial aginst jesus he found hm inocent and put the burden on the people. look up the roman kings and empires

It wasn’t aliens, it was Jesus. Seriously, He came and taught them after He finished His ministry in Jerusalem, was crucified and resurrected. He came after the Resurrection to the people that lived in the Americas. No joke.

PBS kicks ass!

nice video

There is no evidence for the existence of Jesus (according to the historical-critical method), though he might have existed (as many prophets did). In contrast, there is plenty of evidence for the existence of Maya kings (but there too are a lot of holes, things we simply don’t know as yet).

the maya have generated respect in my life…saw the pyramid ruins in Yucatan in January…Latin America is underrated…in part by the media portrayal

awesome video PBS !!

Next time with dutch subtitels ?

Greetz!

any1 know any forums that talk about this stuff?
i found a book on the subject fiction called DOMAIN by Steve Alten. half of it is pretty good talks about how aliens crash landed creating the gulf of mexico and met the Mayan and taught them to build pyramids.

Wether or not its BS i found it entertaining.
Pm if you know where i can find any other intersting theories.

Thank you PBS… you are amazing. I for one watch much more PBS because of these greats videos you put here on youtube.

No expects the Spanish inquisition!!! :)

im going to honduras.

This king, it appears to, did exist. Just like some try to dispute the existence of Jesus, they do not.believe this either. But now there is scientific and other proof that Jesus did. In fact He exists today! We are born unbelievers.

NOVA is pretty cool i wish there was more

looks like the gods abandoned this king and peoples to the point of never allowing them to return to claim thier kingdom? vain beliefs and customs which led to them being conquered and destroyed by the spanish inquisition!!!

Can they be quite sure this king existed? Just like Jesus, and Horus, they may actually have not. ALso, many civilizations have their king, pharaoh, or figurehead claim to be their living god. Every king might claim to be a heavenly god on earth.

Also, 12 priests on the altar-queue, 12 months, 12 moons, representing months in seasons…

The calendar affects all societies on earth.

cool

wow maya sucks stupid animals good thing they got the Pox
