Recently in the English Premier League, Arsenal overcame Bolton by 3 goals and this serve to take advantage and surpass Liverpool that had previously played against Stoke City in a game that ended in a tie. This way in a fifth game played Arsenal positioned itself in the first place of the English Premier standings. Chelsea and Manchester United remain the biggest favorite to win this year’s home and away titles especially the UEFA Champions League, which Sir Alex Ferguson and his team achieved last season.

During the match the Spaniard midfielder Cesc Fabregas failed to catch, in the 14th minute, Kevin Davis’ shot and Bolton took the leading but within two minutes Arsenal’s Emmanuele Eboure and Niclas Bendtner scored. Right after that, the Londoner squad took control of the rhythm of the game and managed to win with a final goal by Denilson at the 87th minute.

On the other hand, we need to say it was not such a good day for Liverpool coached by Spaniard Rafael Benítez who thought that would be an easy game against one of the teams at the bottom of the classification, Stoke City, but the team had a major objective, which was to obtain a local triumph. Right from the start, Liverpool had a major disappointment as their first goal was annulled. Also, Liverpool’s player Fernando Torres was not able to overcome the rival’s resistance laid upon him.

Liverpool’s head coach, Rafael Benítez was very upset that the referee annulled the Gerrard’s free shot goal. The linesman had advised a fault by Dirk Kuyt who headed the shot. The decision to cancel the goal was the referee’s and that was a turning point for the team as they were not able to play a more open game.

The remaining action was shared in the games that brought the West Ham’s triumph over Newcastle by 3 goals to 1. This was Gianfranco Zola’s debut in the Premier League as head coach, a very good experience for the rookie coach. The Italian Zola is the current West Ham’s leading man since Alan Curbishley was removed from his position. The West Ham’s player David Di Michele scored the third goal for the team while Michael Owen scored for Newcastle. Zola was very pleased with the victory and he feels his players have provided all the support he needed to feel in command to make the right choices.

Additionally, Suderland and Blackburn achieved home wins against Middlesbrough (2-0) and Fulham (1-0). These two games were very interested and brought plenty of action especially Michael Chopra Middlesbrough’s player performance. Lastly, Blackburn won over Fulham with a powerful goal by Matt Derbyshire at the 84th minute of the game. Nevertheless, there is a new leader in the standings but the question remains for how long this team will continue in the premium position…we will have our answer in the coming days of football action in the English League.

First take a look on the performance of these clubs as they are currently in the second place in the domestic league. These both teams are also out of the domestic cup competitions and it is the best chance for either of these storied teams to take some silverware to their home this season. It is also an established fact that Rafa Benitez will performed best job for Liverpool and i think that it will be a juicy match for the football fanatics as it will bring striking Football live scores for them which they expect from their action heroes. Liverpool will try their best to get their inspirational captain and leader, Steven Gerrard back to the team for this game. Steven Gerrard has missed the match against Manchester city draw with 1-1 this weekend, a result that looking crippled their title expectations. They would use him as he could squander several chances of scoring for them and performed well in the overrunning situation in the midfield. He could prove healthy for the last match which might be a great boost for his squad. Results of this match can disclose many things that Liverpool needs to implement for the next match playing on 25 February. Liverpool fans are also expecting the participation of the Steven Gerrard in the team as they can be sickened by the alternative. Lucas Leiva, another Liverpool player is also a good start in midfield. Anyhow, Liverpool will be in strong position if their captain will be in team for the fight against Real Madrid. Real Madrid is also seen to be firing on all cylinders as of coming late. Last time, their excellent and forceful performance thrashed Real Betis with a lead of 6-2 this weekend and also defeated Sporting Gijon with 4-0 lead in the last week. Their striking performance in these matches will make them fit as strong opponents against Liverpool. Their striking forces are Klaas Jan Huntelaar, Raul and Gonzalo Higuaín who are famous to give nightmares to opposing defenders. While on the other hand, defensive foursome of Heinze, Cannavaro, Sergio Ramos and Pepe look gelling at the right time. It is also too bad that Huntelaar is not eligible to play. Team players really miss him but if Arjen Robben, Wesley Sneijder, Huntelaar’s countrymen, and Rafael Van der Vaart play well, it will fulfill the deficiency of this great player. Anyhow, there is still confusion as nobody can say that who will be the winner of the match. Both of these teams are strong side and they also need to get victory to advance for the next round. Do you also want to know that who will triumph in the fight of these two successful European clubs? Just wait for 25 February and clarify your confusion.

Premier League Opening Weekend Preview

As the summer football drought draws to an end, spread bettors across the country will be excitedly anticipating the opening weekend’s Premier League fixtures. To name just a few, Birmingham face a trip to Old Trafford, Blackburn host Manchester City and Liverpool travel to White Hart Lane. There has already been a flurry of activity on the outright Premier League spread markets but punters may well welcome clues on the first round of matches before attempting to predict this year’s champions.

The reigning Champions will have a great chance to get their campaign off to a flying start against Birmingham at Old Trafford. This season could be extra special for the Red Devils as they attempt to become the first club to win four Championships in a row, so Sir Alex will be glad of his team’s formidable record against Birmingham. Since 2002/03 the sides have met on five occasions at Old Trafford in the Premier League and Fergie’s side have claimed all 15 points. Spread bettors who like to bet on the match supremacy spreads will be interested to know that in those five fixtures United have not conceded a single goal and averaged 2.3 goals per game.

Having ran United so close last season, Liverpool will be champing at the bit to go one better this season. The Merseysiders have a tough away game against Tottenham on the opening weekend. Other than a home victory in the league and a repeat in the Carling Cup last season, Tottenham have a poor recent record against Liverpool. They have only won once in the league at White Hart Lane in the last five seasons, and have failed to score in three of their last four home league games against Liverpool. Sellers of the total goals spread will be encouraged that during the last five matches between the sides at the Lane there has been an average of just 1.6 goals per game. Historically these two sides do not produce feisty encounters, and sellers of the bookings index spread will be pleased that there have only been 11 yellow cards in these five meetings, an average spread make-up of 22.

Man City have been attracting most of the media attention thanks to their mission to splash the cash. First up for the Sky Blues is a trip to Ewood Park and punters to have bought Blackburn’s win index spread will be aware of their strong record against City. Rovers have only lost once against City at home since 2002, and that was to an 87th minute winner from Nicolas Anelka – buyers of Anelka’s goal minutes spread would have been jumping for joy. Aside from that loss, Rovers have won four head-to-heads and drawn twice at home since 2002. Through the years this fixture has witnessed some high scoring games, including a 3-2 and a 4-3 result in 2006. Buyers of the total goals spread should be pleased that since 2002 the average goal total per match is just under three per game.
