Best is definitely fast, but no one combines cuts and speed like Spiller, his cuts are so sharp!

yup trust me trindon holiday is the best big time and even on some of the games that lsu plays they show videos of track where he just flies past them and think like they say hes only what 5″5 that is almost twice as many steps
only if he was like 6′2 i think hes tryin to make it to the olympics well hope he can make the olympics prolly gonna be the shortest one lol

I have 2 disagree…Best has been angled a few times, but I’ve never seen Spiller angled, EVER! I know Best is fast i was there when he won the CA state meet w/a 10.3, but Spiller gets to top speed faster than Best does, I coach high school track & ran track @ Fresno State…Plus I think Spiller carries his speed better than Best too…No disrepect to Best, but its not like im comparing him to some 3rd down back either, this is CJ Spiller we’re talkin bout!

Great list….I GUESS NO ONES COMPREHENDING THE FACT THAT THERE’S ONLY ONE GUY THATS OVER 6ft AND 200lbs ON THIS LIST….AND THATS WHY BO KNOWS FOOTBALL BABY!!!! POUND FOR POUND THE FASTEST FOOTBALL PLAYER EVER!!!!

It’s always been my position that while it may be only a couple yards longer than a football field, it’s the only commonly recognized race that evaluates true speed as opposed to acceleration, like the 40 yard dash, or as opposed to speed and endurance like the 200m. Essentially there really is no perfect “gauge”, each one has it’s faults, however, the 100m seems to be one of the better ones. If they standardized an 80 yard dash it would be perfect, unfortunately it doesn’t exist.

I see your point but I have to disagree that the 100m is an inaccurate and unreliable gauge of speed. In fact, it’s quite the opposite, because the actual recording of the 100m is standardized and uniform, unlike the 40 yard dash, it’s one of the most accurate and reliable measures of speed that we have. Even variables like wind speed are accounted for. What is debatable, and what I believe you meant to suggest is it’s actual applicability, or relevance, to football because of the distance.

Well noted…its good to see some1’s doin their homework! I guess the issue here is you’re doin a football vid re: “speed”, but referencing the players track accolades…A 100m has a 110yds in it…ISSUE, no one runs a 110yds in a straight line on a field, so to try & “guage” who’s the fastest based on 100m times is inaccurate & unreliable…BUT relying on forty times hasnt proven reliable either as we’ve seen numerous 4.2 guys get caught on long runs before. I believe the best guage pure…

Even if Bo never won an NCAA or SEC championship on a track, he still had tremendous speed, in particularly relative to his size — there just aren’t many 225lbs collegiate sprinters. And there’s no doubt he was easily one of the most naturally-gifted and versatile athletes of all-time. However, if you’re comparing purely based on speed, at least by track standards, he wasn’t putting up the times guys like Jacoby Ford, Trindon Holliday, and Darrell Green were in college.

Actually it’s pretty well-documented that Bo Jackson’s most verifiable wind-legal time came from the 1984 SEC Championships where he ran 10.39 in the 100m.
Bo’s name actually isn’t even listed in Auburn’s all-time top marks list in the 100m; he’s tied for 7th all-time in the 55m. There have only been 4 sprinters in Auburn history to run sub-10.1 in the 100m: Coby Miller 9.98 (2000), Harvey Glance 10.01 (1976), Marcus Rowland 10.03 (2009), and Stanley Floyd 10.07 (1980), Bo wasn’t one of them.

i see someone doesnt know their FACTS…BO JACKSON WAS THE SEC 100M CHAMPION @ AUBURN W/A 10.08 LEGAL TIME SMARTONE! AAANNNDDD HE’S BIGGER THAN EVERY SINGLE BACK ON THIS LIST!!!! WATCH HIS NFL HIGHLITES HE WAS RUNNING PAST NFL PLAYERS LIKE THEY WERE IN HIGHSCHOOL!!! EVEN DEION SANDERS SAYS BO JACKSON MAY HAVE BEEN THE ONLY PERSON HE DIDNT KNOW IF HE COULD CATCH FROM BEHIND….

And how would one even test that? You can’t quantify “getting in the endzone the fastest”, unless it’s linear, in which case you’re testing “speed”. Every football play is unique, you’d have to take hundreds of players and put them in the exact same game situation, which is impossible. There are hundreds of variables that go on during the course of a football play, controlling all of them, and then repeatedly testing individual players in those specific circumstances is unrealistic.

wht does speed matter if you cant get through all 11 opposing players should made a list of fastest players to reach the endzone or most electric players tht break peoples ankles then it would be 1. CJ Spiller then a gap to number 10. Jahvid Best CJ Spiller easily would deserve 9 spots on tht list he will make u break down and stop ur feet while he is already past you and scoring 6!!!!!

this is true…no lies told i am biased towards demps neways haha….im jus real excited to see what he can do on and off the field but it will take time now that he got injured in the bowl game vs cincy….speed backs were always far more exciting to watch in my opinion…nothing against power though…just personal preference

Don’t hate on Bo Jackson, probably the best combination of speed, size and athleticism the NFL has seen. State sprint and decathalon champion. Big strong and also an MLB Allstar.

K your posting fastest football player not football players with the fastest track times. Everything is fine except for Trindon Holliday. He’s a dogshit football player and I’m sick of announcers saying he’s a two sport athlete. He’s an amazing track athlete and a TERRIBLE football player.
