It seems that everything is ready for next week’s UEFA Champions League final, Manchester United vs. Barcelona, on May 27th at Rome. Both coaches, Sir Alex Ferguson from Manchester and Pep Guardiola from Barcelona, are ready to have what Sir Alex Ferguson has called as a classic European game. Both teams are the champions of the national leagues they participate in, and both have all that is needed to give a great performance, and to affirm at this moment that one team is better than the other, is a very risky statement. Sir Alex Ferguson has stated that both teams have great players and this will suggest a great final. He hopes that when the time comes the result won’t be disappointing for the fans that are expecting a great show for that day, as it has happened before in other European finals. Manchester United will have Dimitar Berbatov and Carlos Tevez in attack whereas Barcelona will have Messi and Samuel Eto’o, and is hoping for Thierry Henry and Andres Iniesta to recover from their injuries, but either way, both of them have great squads to fight with. “Every club has their own style. Barcelona has their style and we have our own way of playing,” Ferguson said. “We hope that we express ourselves the way we want on Wednesday. The most important thing to win the tournament you have to express yourselves in the best possible way. And I think we have the players who can do that.” Manchester is also waiting to see if Rio Ferdinand will be ready to play against Barça on Wednesday since he had a calf injury. Even though he says he is fine, Sir Alex Ferguson is taking all the precautions and wants to be sure that he is completely back in shape to play again. Ferdinand has expressed that there is no reason why he would not be fit enough for the final; he has been running and making all the normal exercises of a football practice and is very optimistic about being on the final game for sure. However, for Ferguson it is not that simple since he has not played in three weeks and that is too much time for him and considers that if he is not fit enough for the game, he will be substituted by Johnny Evans. On the other hand, the Barcelona’s forward Lionel Messi has said that the mental strength that the Barcelona team has is their most important skill and that is what gave them the opportunity to beat Chelsea in the semifinals and have a spot on the final against Manchester United next week. He also expressed that they are all fighters and they will fight until the end to win the final and take the Champions League title home. He also explained that to be in the Champions League final is a dream that came true for him and that his desires and hopes to take the title home are not going away at least until next Wednesday on the big day. Both teams have all that it takes to be champions, we will have to wait and see what happens next week in Rome.
